Anti-Aging Supplements

Taking vitamin supplements and minerals can extend your life span. While supplements are not designed to replace a quality nutrition and exercise, they will assist you in living a long, healthy, and prosperous life. Supplements have been used for thousands of years to prevent many diseases, and historians aren't certain when the benefits of vitamin supplements were discovered.

The reason supplements are important for your diet is because they are not available in large enough quantities in most foods. Even fruits and vegetables, foods which are considered to be healthy, alone do not contain enough vitamins and nutrients to extend your lifespan. Anti-aging supplements are divided into three categories. These are hormonal axis, specialized function axis, and anti-oxidant axis.

Antioxidants are chemicals which give electrons to radicals while regulating itself. It has been shown that women who take certain supplements during their pregnancy can reduce the chances of their babies being born with birth defects. Older women who take vitamin D reduce their chances breaking their bones due to osteoporosis. Other studies have shown that if one multivitamin is taken each day, the chances of getting various cancers or other diseases will be greatly reduced.

Because of the many diseases which can be prevented by taking the proper supplements, they are often referred to as being anti-aging supplements. Taking vitamin supplements on a daily basis is still new to the medical establishment. In the past doctors felt that supplements were unnecessary, and felt that a normal diet would provide patients with all the nutrients and minerals they needed. Despite this, attitudes are starting to change.

Researchers have found that a normal diet doesn't provide enough vitamins and minerals to keep people healthy and extend their lives. People who eat foods which do not contain any nutrients will suffer from a lack of vitamins, and will be prone to getting many chronic diseases. Because many multivitamins contain large amounts of iron, they may not be good for some people, such as women who are not menstruating. Free radicals are an important part of life, and the body must be able to turn food into energy.

Having a low amount of antioxidants in the body is not healthy, and studies have shown that people should increase their recommended daily allowance of nutrients. However, having too many antioxidants can be harmful. As with anything, it is important to be able balance the number of vitamins taken daily.
